Emergency help needed – heart surgery for Sandra

Update 9th September 2025: Sandra underwent extensive examinations at Tenwek Hospital in Bomet, and the situation is even more serious than the cardiologist in Mombasa had estimated. Three of her four heart valves are defective; one may be repaired, but the other two must be replaced with artificial heart valves.
Sandra was admitted to the clinic this evening, and the operation will take place in the next few days.
We have been able to collect enough donations for the time being and have therefore deactivated the fundraising campaign. Should we need further support, we will announce it.
A big thank you to everyone who has supported Sandra so far with donations, campaigns and good wishes. Let’s all keep our fingers crossed for her! She has a difficult road ahead of her, but she is in the best hands.
Update September 2025: Sandra and her family are on their way to Tenwek Hospital in Bomet with our team. There, Sandra will be examined again and a decision will be made as to whether and when she can undergo surgery. We urgently need further donations – for the operation, the journey and stay in Bomet, and follow-up care. Please help us with a donation!
Sandra has severe damage to both heart valves, the symptoms are already dramatic and dangerous, and without surgery, the situation is acutely life-threatening for Sandra. Any kind of strain must be avoided.
She has been ill since 2018, and her family has already tried to raise money for an operation – but they only managed to collect 600 Euros. Without help, Sandra will die – it’s as simple as that. The operation at a hospital in Kenya that specialises in heart surgery for children and young people will give Sandra the chance of a healthy life and a future.
Sandra wants to live; she has so many plans.
Please help us with a generous donation! The sooner we raise the amount, the sooner we can help Sandra.
Update August 2025 – we now have clarity – Sandra urgently needs heart surgery. We need 12.000 Euro to make this surgery possible.
We need your help! This is Sandra, 14 years old and seriously ill with heart disease. She will need further treatment, we need medication, we have to pay for further examinations and the trips there. Please support us with a donation!
Her whole story is almost unbearable to hear. She comes from an extremely poor family. Out of desperation, her mother went to Saudi Arabia to work some time ago, but can hardly send any money home. Her father died in an accident a few weeks ago. Sandra and her four younger siblings then moved in with their grandmother. We had heard from her father that Sandra had heart problems, but that there was no money for tests. Her symptoms are severe: cardiac arrhythmia, fainting, weakness.
The tests we had done at a very good hospital cost 300 euros – unaffordable for the family. But they gave us an accurate picture – and unfortunately, it is much more dramatic than we had hoped. We are currently working with medical professionals to determine how to proceed. But one thing we already know – we will need money. Medication, preliminary examinations, travel and accommodation for relatives, possibly surgery. We very much hope that we can help Sandra quickly. Before it is too late for her. Please help us!
