Sponsor a child
We would be happy if you would like to sponsor a child in Rabai, Kenya. With your sponsorship, you make it possible for your sponsored child to attend school. You can read more about the school on our About Us page. On this page here you can find children who are still looking for sponsors. These children attend either the Rabai Hope Nursery School or a primary school and would be happy to find a sponsor.
If the child attends Rabai Hope Nursery School in PP 1 (first year) or PP 2 (second year), he/she will later transfer to a public primary school. You are welcome to continue supporting the child, the sponsorship fee remains the same. You can find out more about the school system and what happens after primary school on the About Us page.
The sponsorship for a child is 20 Euros per month, a shared sponsorship of 10 Euros per month is also possible. You can choose a child to sponsor or we can suggest a child to you. All the children we present here urgently need the support of sponsors.
We are happy to provide you with a donation receipt, donations to kila mtoto e.V. are tax deductable in Germany and most European countries. Please consult your tax office in case of questions.
Only when all the children have sponsors can we operate the school at full capacity - with lessons, good materials and some basic medical coverage.
The school meals are partly financed by the sponsorships for the children at our school. However, this is not enough to provide a balanced diet. With a porridge sponsorship, an egg or fruit sponsorship or a lunch sponsorship, you make it possible for us to offer healthy and filling meals to all the children at the school.
If your sponsored child attends a primary school, the sponsorship contribution will be used to cover the costs of your sponsored child's school attendance. A part of your sponsorship contribution also goes towards the overall project to cover the general care of your sponsored child and their family.

We are looking for sponsors for Samira, aged 10. Her T-shirt says ‘Magic is everywhere’ – the greatest miracle for Samira would surely be if she could go back to school.
A few days ago, I introduced you to Mercy, and she found sponsors very quickly. Samira is Mercy’s sister. During a home visit, our team learned the family’s full story – the mother has tuberculosis; although she is receiving treatment, she cannot work, and the father is almost never there. The family has lost their home and is now staying with relatives; they all sleep on mattresses on the floor. The two eldest siblings have dropped out of school; the sister is working in the Gulf States, and the brother is scraping by as a day labourer on building sites.
There are a total of five school-age children in the family – Mercy and Samira were both at home because they couldn’t afford the school fees. Samira is 10 years old and in Year 4 at a primary school.
We would like to help her attend school through a sponsorship. Would you like to support Samira with €20 a month? A half-sponsorship of €10 a month is also possible.

Rachael is 20 years old and needs financial support for her studies. Rachael achieved excellent results at school, but comes from such a poor family that she would have no chance of funding her studies on her own.
Rachael has 10 siblings; her father was a fisherman, and both her parents are now very old and can no longer work. Rachael lives with her older sister, where she helps out with the housework between school and university and tutors her nieces and nephews. She also supports several of her brothers who are still at school by earning money through odd jobs.
Rachael has always fought her way through; she attended a very good secondary school – she managed this by knocking on doors until she secured the necessary support through scholarships. She represented this school at the Kenyan debating competition and, as the winner, even represented Kenya in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. She would like to try to secure government funding for her degree as well – but it is already clear that she will need further support, including to cover living costs.
Rachael would like to study psychology or business with a focus on finance (she’s a maths whizz). She has applied via the Kenyan university system and has received a provisional offer – she will find out exactly what and where she will be studying in July.
In her spare time, Rachael enjoys reading novels and non-fiction books; she loves to sing (and is really good at it), paints and writes poetry.
We are currently looking for sponsors who would support Rachael with a total of 60 Euros per month. We also welcome partial sponsorships starting from 10 Euros per month or one-off donations. The sponsorship can begin immediately so that we can set aside sufficient funds for the start of her studies.
Regular supporters are welcome to correspond with Rachael; she would be delighted to do so.

If you can’t see any children above this, all our children currently have sponsors. However, we have a waiting list for sponsors. You are welcome to add your name to this list below, we will then inform you when more children are looking for sponsors and you can consider whether you would like to take on a sponsorship. We would be delighted if you would like to support us in the meantime with a lunch or school sponsorship. You are welcome to convert this into a child sponsorship at a later date.

Lunch sponsorship. If we manage to offer a healthy lunch in addition to breakfast, we know that our children are full and well supplied with nutrients and vitamins.
For 12 euros, we can provide a child with a varied and healthy lunch for a month. This includes healthy ingredients such as rice, beans and vegetables. We also use this money to pay for our cooks and the necessary kitchen utensils.
You are free to choose how much you would like to donate each month as a lunch sponsor.
You will receive a donation certificate from us in recognition. And you know that thanks to your help, a child gets a healthy meal every day.

School sponsorship. Would you like to support Rabai Hope Nursery School on a regular basis without sponsoring a specific child? That is of course also possible – with a school sponsorship.
With a school sponsorship, your donation is treated like a sponsorship and enables the school to run and maintain. Your donation benefits all the children at the school.
With a personal sponsorship, your child will eventually leave Rabai Hope Nursery School and transfer to a primary school. With a school sponsorship, you can support the small preschool in Rabai on a permanent basis.
You are welcome to sponsor a school with an amount of your choice. You will receive a donation certificate from us in recognition.
